Distributions to Date Status
In the last five years there have been over 12.5 million Raspberry Pi boards sold. The Pi 3B accounts for about 30% of that total according to the article.
Design Specifications
The Model 3 data sheet and primary documentation repository provides more detailed information. All of the software developed by the Raspberry Pi foundation is published as open source and is available on Github.
Technical Support
Raspberry Pi foundation provides support in the form of documentation and how-tos. Further technical support would have to be provided by a third party.
Replacement Components
There are replacement accessories, but due to the nature of SOC, there are no replacement components for the Pi.
Lifecycle
The Raspberry Pi foundation has refreshed the hardware every 1-3 years. Minor revisions and feature additions can happen during this period.
Manufacturer Specified Performance Parameters
The Raspberry Pi line of products is designed to enable access to computing to everyone. Their goal is to design and produce a SOC that is so cheap, that cost is not prohibitive to access.
Vetted Performance Status
Access to computer science learning or code camps have a positive impact on pupils confidence and skills in coding, IT and using computers 1

The Raspberry Pi is a world leading low cost computing device. It runs an open source operating system and offers minimal peripherals and hardware and can be used with TV or other visual display. The line of products are well respected and proven. Many use cases of extension of this hardware can be found and implemented for power users of computer hardware.
While both devices are extremely competitively priced, they Model B is around $40 and the Zero W at $10. The Model B provides more capability for visual and multimedia purposes, including audio and video outputs and compatibility with other Raspberry Pi devices (although it is not clear that non Raspberry Pi peripherals are supported) such as touchscreen displays.
