SafeMotos is a ride hailing platform for cars and motorcycles that uses telematic data to measure real time rider safety.
SafeMotos is a ride hailing platform developed in Rwanda by Barrett Nash and Peter Kariuki for Africa’s motorcycle and informal taxi market. This smartphone application allows customers to order safe and professional motos directly to a desired pickup location using GPS. The platform uses collected computerized data to ascertain real time rider safety by monitoring the driver’s road conduct and having drivers follow strict driving regulations.

Safety
All riders and customers must wear helmets at all times during the rides. Female customers have the option of choosing female riders. Night time rides are well documented in the system for traceability in case of any incidents. Drivers are monitored for speed, accuracy, location, and gyroscopic data and given a safety score out of 100.

Compliance with regulations
Every rider should have a license from the Rwanda Utilities Regulatory Authority. Interview with Representative Drivers are also trained by SafeMotos and must have three years of prior experience before being hired.
