Product Description

The L’uritonnoir is a dry urinal device designed by integrating a urinal and a funnel. It can be used in a variety of outdoor spaces by inserting the device into a bale of hay, which will decompose as nitrogen (from urine) is added.

Although alternative water-free urinals are marketed, there are no other portable, outdoor options available for sale. However, individuals are able to build their own dry-urinal in outdoor settings.

Design Specifications

The uritonnoir was designed to combine a urinal with a funnel. To make the product portable and suitable to changing outdoor venues, 1-2 millimeter polypropylene was chosen as the material and the structure was printed on a flat sheet that could be folded into the three-dimensional urinal.

Product Schematics

Technical Support

User support is provided by the distributors at Faltazi, and an instructional manual is available to customers.

Replacement Components

The urinal is made up of one sheet of plastic without additional components. Therefore rather than replacement components, replacement urinals are available on the manufacturer's website.

Lifecycle

The lifetime of the urinal is unknown, but the capacity associated with the hay bails in which they are placed depends on the number of users. The manufacturer recommends a maximum of 60 users per Uritonnoir per straw meter.

Manufacturer Specified Performance Parameters

Designer specified performance targets include the urinal not smelling, being easy to clean for continual use, and be usable by both adults and children.

Vetted Performance Status

The urinal was only tested by the manufacturer.

Safety

The risk of fire associate with having hay bales around a festival venue can be mitigated by humidifying the bales or providing a water extinguisher when the weather is dry.

Complementary Technical Systems

The urinal must be used together with hay bales in order for the urine to be collected properly, and to produce compost.
