Design Specifications

The Isla Urbana Tlaloc Kit is composed of six main parts. The first is the Tlaloque unit which acts as a first flush collector for dirty and contaminated water to be trapped in the system. After a certain threshold, water then passes through the macro-filter which blocks debris and fine sediment up to 1 mm in diameter from entering the system. After this, water travels into an underground pool where it goes through a turbulence reducer device that mitigates incipient velocity. From here, water is stored until needed by the household. When necessary, a floating tube in the center of the reservoir draws up water with the help of a 0.5 hp pump. The water passes through a filtration system that collects the remaining debris. Finally, the water goes through a silver ion filter for disinfection prior to being stored in the household's rooftop tank for use.
