Angaza builds technology to solve global energy poverty: we enable financing of solar energy solutions for off-grid consumers. To do so, Angaza develops a mix of custom hardware and software for some of the most demanding and dynamic markets in the world, including Africa and India. We are a for-profit company, based in California and Kenya, that aims market forces at the linked crises of climate change and global development.
If you join the five-person technical team in San Francisco, you will take our Android application to the next level. This application enables partners and consumers across Africa and India to access and manage solar energy products, and is the key customer-facing component in the Angaza platform. You will overcome significant technical challenges, from implementing intuitive abstractions for first-time smartphone users to handling real-time connectivity with limited resources in harsh network environments. You will work closely with the rest of the engineering team.
- Professional experience developing Android applications in Java
- Familiarity with at least one dynamically typed language
- Comfort with the standard software engineering toolkit, e.g., git
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Expertise in low-level networking a plus
- Previous startup experience a plus
