Call for Entries: Johnson & Johnson Champions of Science Africa Innovation Challenge 2.0 – deadline January 16, 2019

Johnson & Johnson has launched the Champions of Science Africa Innovation Challenge 2.0. This competition is a great opportunity for innovators and start-ups to be eligible to receive up to US$50,000 in funding and mentorship that can help to bring your concepts to market.

This second Africa Innovation Challenge is designed to address the critical unmet needs of the continent and local communities in Africa while providing support to Africa-based entrepreneurs in creating innovative health care products and services. Specifically, the Challenge focuses on six categories —

  1. Mental Health
  2. Packaging Innovations
  3. Botanical Solutions
  4. Health Worker Support
  5. Digital Health Tools
  6. Essential Surgical Care

The submitted health care solutions will be evaluated based on their ability to meet the following criteria:

  • Idea submission addresses at least one of the six challenge categories (Botanical Solutions; Packaging Innovations; Mental Health; Health Worker Support; Digital Health Tools; Essential Surgical Care).
  • Idea submission is innovative and creative.
  • Idea submission is scalable.
  • Idea submission outlines how the award would help the applicant(s) reach a critical milestone within the timeframe of a single year and provides a full commercialization plan.
