Contractors for Remote Performance Monitors and Sensors for Off-Grid Appliances

The Low Energy Inclusive Appliances (LEIA) program is delivered through an international Efficiency for Access coalition currently chaired by UK aid and Power Africa, which includes a range of co-funders such as Lighting Global, Rockefeller Foundation, Shell Foundation, Sida, EnDev, Good Energies Foundation, and more. The Efficiency for Access Coalition is coordinated by CLASP, the leading international voice and resource for appliance energy efficiency policies and market acceleration initiatives, and the Energy Savings Trust, which specializes in energy efficiency product verification, data and insight, advice and research.

The LEIA program publically launched in January 2018 and the Efficiency for Access coalition is now scaling up and bringing together a range of support mechanisms to accelerate energy efficiency in clean energy access efforts, driving markets for super-efficient technologies, supporting innovation, and improving sector coordination.

Opportunity:

The LEIA program under the Efficiency for Access coalition has a research mandate that includes consumer, market, impacts, and technical research activities. CLASP expects that many of these activities will incorporate assessment of appliance and equipment performance in field conditions. However, remote performance assessment presents a variety of technical and logistical challenges, and specialized devices are often required to ensure timely and accurate data collection. CLASP therefore intends to engage contractors as needed to supply and operate remote monitoring devices for use with a variety of appliances and equipment in a variety of geographic and environmental contexts across the life of the LEIA program.

Specific remote monitoring needs (e.g., data logging & storage, measurement frequency) will vary from project to project. The purpose of this RFI is to collect information about the type(s) of instrumentation and remote monitoring capabilities your organization offers in order to match those needs to projects as they arise.
