Kosovo Dairy Water Testing and Treatment Volunteer
This EWB-USA Engineering Service Corps assignment will provide engineering assistance to the agricultural community in Kosovo. Through these efforts, the efficiency and effectiveness of the agricultural producers and processors will improve, enhancing their economic potential. One round-trip airfare is also included.
Description + Responsibilities
This effort is funded by USAID under the Farmer to Farmer program and is in support to the current ESC members stationed in Kosovo. The Person will work closely with the current ESC members and the USAID AGRO program in Kosovo that is being led by Tetra Tech. Lodging will be at an apartment. A daily stipend will be provided for food and incidentals.
Possible assignments include:
- Work with small dairy producers (5-15 cows) to test the quality of the water currently being used for cleaning milking equipment. If contamination is found, work to identify low cost treatment solutions such as Ultra Violet light.
Qualifications + Requirements
The candidate must have experience in potable water testing and treatment. Those with dairy experience are preferred. Those with farmer/agricultural experience are also preferred. US Residency is required.
The Farmer to Farmer program will fund airfare for one, round trip flight per member. Lodging and local transportation will also be provided. Volunteers will be expected to fund any personal costs beyond the $25/day stipend.
Full-time engagement during field assignment. 3-5 days of preparation is anticipated prior to travel.
3-4-week assignment starting in early November. Late January or February are also an option.
Candidates for this and any Engineering Service Corps field assignment should plan to complete the half-day field security management course from RedR.
