Refrigeration and solar engineer needed

EcoLife is both “Urban farming” and “Agro-processing” at its best. Through the use of city farms and solar-powered cold rooms/dryers, EcoLife brings you Fresh “N” Dried fruits and vegetables to your doorsteps year round and entices a new generation of young entrepreneurs, expanding employment opportunities. EcoLife is also the recent prize winner of The Global LEAP Off-Grid Cold Chain Challenge from UK Aid.

Our solar powered cold rooms reduce post-harvest losses of perishable vegetables in urban areas. This is part of the solution to reduce 40% of the food loss in Africa and minimize the high costs traditionally associated with the agricultural industry, such as poor storage facilities, seasonality, and geographic limitations. We are at late stage prototype with a mission to implement and launch an effective, affordable cold room for perishable fruits & vegetables by Dec 2018.

We are looking for a professional engineer candidate who is skilled in refrigeration and off-grid energy systems, able to work on a diverse team to cause a social impact. Experience in design and implementation of sustainable engineering projects will be a plus.

This position is unpaid. Minimum time commitment needed is 4 months from October to January. Excluding Christmas holidays. Contact Hadijah Nantambi at Ecolifefoods@gmail.com
