Solar Engineer/Motorcycle Design
PROJECT: More than 287,000 women and 3,000,000 babies die from pregnancy-related conditions every year, while millions more are injured in the process. Most deaths can be prevented with access to skilled care, but a primary obstacle is accessing health facilities. Health facilities are sparse. Roads are poor quality, transportation mechanisms are few, and those that do exist are too expensive for most people to pay for. We are aiming to address this problem by developing the first electric, solar-charged motorcycle ambulance system specifically designed for the rural environment of low-to-middle income countries using an “upcycling” process of converting existing fuel-powered motorcycles.
JOB: We are looking for volunteer engineering partners who are dedicated and optimistic about the improvement of humanity through the use of applied science and engineering. We will consider partnerships with different types of skilled and competent entities (including students with the right level of knowledge and commitment) as long as they are willing to join our team to design the system, oversee the development of the unit, and refine the prototype through a piloting process.
