University of Toronto Reconciliation Through Engineering Initiative – Research Associate (Limited Term)

The Centre for Global Engineering (CGEN) is a research institute at the University of Toronto which tackles major engineering development challenges in Canada and abroad through evidence-based research and rigorous field assessment. We are seeking a research associate to spearhead our three-year Reconciliation Through Engineering (RTE) Initiative.

Qualifications:

  • Graduate Degree (PhD) in Engineering or Related Field
  • Minimum 2 years practical engineering experience
  • Familiarity with the Truth and Reconciliation Commission, its findings, and its Calls to Action
  • (Voluntary or paid) experience in indigenous outreach in Canada or international development is strongly desirable
  • Prior hands-on involvement with humanitarian and/or development organizations is strongly desirable, especially those which focus on indigenous advocacy and rights
  • Must possess excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  • Must be willing to travel to remote indigenous communities in Canada for extended periods
