The EcoFrost Micro Cold Storage is a solar-powered cold storage room.
The EcoFrost Micro Cold Storage is the first on-farm solar-powered cold storage in India. The Micro Cold Storage units is a portable cold chain room that accommodates 5-6 metric tonne of produce is small enough for a single farmer. It can be monitored remotely by the team and can be operated via an Android app by the farmer.
1,210,000 INR (~$18,058 USD). Transportation Cost : Max. Rs.60,000 – Rs.70,000 as per location. Installation Cost: Rs.20,000 – Rs.30,000 as per site condition and location. O & M Cost : Rs.1.5 lacs moderated by MNRE. Total Cost Without Subsidy : Rs.14.6 lacs + Taxes. Total Cost With Subsidy : Rs. 10.1 lacs + Taxes. (Government offers Rs. 2.5 lacs per tonne subsidy total amount to Rs 4.5 lacs.)

The unit relies on solar panels of 2.5-3.5KW and stores power using thermal energy rather than conventional batteries and can last for 36 hours in case of cloudy weather.

The system is said to pre-cool products in 6 hours between 10-15% and maintain humidity control between 80-95%. The backup should last between 24-30 hours.
Safety precautions must be taken while transporting and installing this system. All wires and electrical components are sealed and do not pose a safety hazard if maintained properly.
The product can be monitored and controlled with a mobile app.
