After the 2010 Haiti Earthquake, design students Anna Stork and Andrea Sreshta (actual co-founders of LuminAID) identified the lack of proper light between the products that were being distributed (medical supplies, shelters, etc). That is when they invented the idea of a lightweight, portable and rechargeable solar lantern that avoids the use of kerosene and candles and supplies light in an environmentally friendly way.
