I was drawn to my current industry and position by my passion for human-centered infrastructure and its power to spur economic growth in underserved communities. The ability to enhance connectivity, improve safety, and contribute to economic development through sustainable infrastructure solutions inspires me to continue contributing to SDG 9 by providing sustainable transportation infrastructure solutions that benefit my community. I love that throughout my experience I have been able to collaborate with diverse teams, solve complex engineering challenges, and see the tangible positive impact of my work on people's lives.
In transport infrastructure, digital monitoring and intelligent transport systems are critical for sustainable development. I’ve seen firsthand how virtual weighbridge stations integrated with remote sensors and data analytics can reduce overloading, extend pavement life and cut emissions from maintenance related construction activities. Other technologies like Geographic Information Systems (GIS), Building Information Modeling (BIM) and renewable-energy-powered smart lighting, support infrastructure that is safer, more efficient and environmentally responsible.
