Engineering for Change, LLC (“E4C” or “we”) respects your preferences concerning the treatment of personal information that we may collect from your use of the Service (as defined below). This Policy lets you know how we collect and use your personal information, and how you can control its use.
ACCEPTANCE OF TERMS
This Policy does not apply to: (1) websites operated by individual E4C members or users; (2) websites operated by third-party E4C affiliates; (3) our advertisers’ websites; or (4) any third-party websites referred or linked to in the Service. You should review those sites’ privacy practices before using them or submitting any personally identifiable information to them.
DESCRIPTION OF SERVICE
E4C offers a collaboration environment at http://www.engineeringforchange.org/ that provides, among other features: (a) searchable knowledgebase of engineering solutions; (b) news and insights; (c) webinars and online courses; and (d) community forums and resources (the “Service”).
COLLECTION OF NON-PERSONALLY IDENTIFIABLE INFORMATION

E4C also collects personally identifiable information (“Your Data”) that you voluntarily submit through online forms, surveys and event registrations on the Service or via downloaded forms that are completed offline and then submitted to E4C, including, but not limited to:

E4C also collects the personal information that you provide to us about other people on certain parts of the Service. For example, you may provide personal information about others when referring them for membership.
HOW WE USE YOUR DATA
Your Data is used for the purposes for which you give it to us and other purposes from which you do not choose to opt-out, any of which may include, but not be limited to:
Fulfilling your request for membership or other services
Soliciting new members
Permitting you to participate in different sections of the Service
Facilitating your organizational role for or attendance at an E4C-sponsored conference or other event
Processing registrations for events, courses and other E4C activities
Conducting surveys and polls
Developing and improving our services and activities
Providing you with information on events, products and services, or other news that we think might interest you
Enabling carefully selected third parties to send you promotional materials for products and services that we believe may be of interest to you
SHARING INFORMATION WITH THIRD PARTIES
Sharing Information With Service Providers
E4C uses third-party service providers (“Service Providers”) to provide certain services, such as hosting, software maintenance, database maintenance, address verification and credit card processing, that are necessary for E4C operations, including the operation of the Service and fulfilling your requests. These Service Providers may be supplied with or have access to Your Data, but only for the purpose of providing these services to E4C or on our behalf. These Service Providers are obligated to keep Your Data confidential. Certain portions of Your Data may also be made available to member and non-member E4C volunteers who assist us with communications or surveys.
Sharing Information With Affiliates and Sponsors
Affiliates and sponsoring organizations who share E4C’s mission assist E4C in providing the Service to you, and E4C may share Your Data with its affiliates and sponsoring organizations in connection with the operation of the Service.
Sharing Information With Advertisers
In addition to our Service Providers, E4C also uses third-party network advertisers such as DoubleClick to deliver ads to you on our behalf. These advertisers collect or have access only to anonymous information and aggregate information about web traffic on the Service.
Sharing User Information
E4C may share basic profile information about you, including, but not limited to, your name, location and affiliation, to users of the Service. E4C may also share your email address with users of the Service, but only if you opt in on your profile page. Any information you enter as part of your profile, except your email address, will be available to users of the Service.
E4C provides selected portions of Your Data to E4C members in leadership or volunteer positions for use in connection with the activities of the groups to which you belong. E4C also shares member mailing lists (i.e., names, street addresses and email addresses) with carefully selected third parties who offer information, goods or services that we think may be of interest to you. If you prefer that we do not share Your Data with third parties as part of our member mailing lists, please contact us at email@example.com.
LEADERS, VOLUNTEERS AND PARTICIPANTS IN E4C UNITS, PROGRAMS OR ACTIVITIES
If you serve as a leader or volunteer with an E4C section, division, board, committee, district or any other E4C member group, or if you are a member or non-member who has assumed a leadership role in any activity or program that E4C conducts or sponsors, then E4C may display limited portions of Your Data in sections of the Service specific to that group, activity or program so that fellow group members or participants may contact you. In addition to your name, shared portions of Your Data may include your email address, employer, job title, employer address, telephone and fax numbers and photograph (if applicable).
DISCLOSURE FOR LEGAL PURPOSES
E4C may disclose your personal information to comply with laws, court orders, litigation or other legal process, and/or in response to requests from governmental authorities within or outside your country of residence. We may also disclose information about you if we determine that disclosure is reasonably necessary to enforce our rights or protect our operations or users.
DISCLOSURE AS PART OF A MERGER OR ACQUISITION
E4C may disclose your personal information to a successor or acquiring entity as part of a merger, acquisition, reorganization or other transaction involving all or substantially all of the Service or E4C’s assets.
Except as otherwise set forth in this Policy, E4C will not share your email address with any third party other than our Service Providers; we use email addresses for internal purposes and to promote efficient communications between E4C and its members and customers.
PROTECTION OF CHILDREN UNDER AGE 13
The Service is intended for use by adults only. In connection with the Service, E4C does not promote online to children and does not intentionally collect any personally identifiable information from children under the age of 13. If you are a parent or guardian and you believe that your child under age 13 may have provided his or her personal information to us through the Service, please contact us at firstname.lastname@example.org.
REVIEW AND CORRECTION
If you are an E4C member, you may review, update, correct or delete any of Your Data that you have provided to us by logging into the Members Only section of the Service.
LINKS TO THIRD PARTIES
E4C uses online forms to collect specific information for registration for events or courses, surveys, polls and other data collection uses. In cases where Your Data is collected through such forms, all forms are secured through Secure Socket Layers (SSL) encryption. Of course, no transmission over the Internet can be guaranteed to be 100% secure. Therefore, you provide us with your information at your own risk.
TRANSFER OF INFORMATION TO OTHER COUNTRIES
E4C’s collection and processing of information in connection with the Service may involve the transfer of that information to various countries around the world. By submitting your information to E4C in connection with the Service, you consent to such transfers and to the processing of this information in various countries around the world.
YOUR CALIFORNIA PRIVACY RIGHTS
Under California Civil Code Section 1798.83 (also known as S.B. 27), if you are a California resident and your business relationship with E4C is primarily for personal, family or household purposes, you may request certain data regarding E4C’s disclosure, if any, of personal information to third parties for the third parties’ direct marketing purposes. To make such a request, please send an email to email@example.com with “Request for California Privacy Information” in the subject line. You may make such a request up to once per calendar year. If applicable, we will provide you, by email, a list of the categories of personal information disclosed to third parties for their direct marketing purposes during the immediately preceding calendar year, along with the third parties’ names and addresses. Please note that not all personal information sharing is covered by S.B. 27’s requirements.
