About EBBY LARI
Ebby Lari is a biomedical engineer, co-founder, and advocate for engineering as a force for human good. As Co-founder of DamuSense System, she is advancing maternal health technologies for low-resource settings. Ebby also serves as an Ambassador for the Queen Elizabeth Prize for Engineering, inspiring the next generation of engineers globally. Her maternal health work has earned international recognition, including First Place at the RICE360 Africa Network Design Competition. She is currently an Engineering for Change Fellow working on a project to support new innovations under ISHOW-ASME.

Knowing that we are born creators and can bring change into this world gives me the energy to try, and try again. That conviction is what keeps me returning to the workbench after every setback. If something as preventable as postpartum hemorrhage is still taking mothers' lives, that's not just a medical challenge. It's also a design failure. And design failures can be fixed.
I am drawn to the idea that good engineering, done with the right people and the right intent, can make survival less dependent on geography. Beyond my own work, I am inspired by the growing community of engineers across Africa and the Global South who are building for their own communities ,not waiting for solutions to be imported, but creating them from within. I am equally driven by humanitarian engineering: how low-cost, resilient technologies can be deployed to address critical challenges and access in under-served communities. For me, engineering is at its best when it blends creativity with compassion to improve lives
