The Google Africa Applied AI Lab is seeking African AI entrepreneurs and researchers to develop AI solutions for real-world challenges across the continent.
Based at the Accra AI Community Centre in Ghana, the program is designed to help turn cutting-edge AI research into market-ready products. Selected founders and researchers will work directly with Google experts to explore commercial applications and build AI solutions.
Participants will receive:
Early access to Google DeepMind models, including Gemini, Gemma and Veo
Hands-on technical mentorship from Google Research and other Google teams
Go-to-market support from Google and leading venture capital firms
Opportunities to connect with investors and potential funding
Access to the Accra AI Community Centre and its technology ecosystem
Participating venture firms include 4DX Ventures, Norrsken22, Novastar Ventures and Ventures Platform. Some participants may also be eligible for funding through the Google AI Futures Fund and participating venture capital firms.
The program will culminate in a demo day, where startups will showcase their work to Google employees, investors and partners and explore opportunities for further funding and support.
The Google AI Futures Fund supports entrepreneurs developing emerging AI technologies through capital, distribution and early access to Google DeepMind models. The Accra AI Community Centre provides collaborative space, technology support and resources aimed at strengthening Africa’s AI ecosystem and promoting responsible innovation.
Applications are open from July 1 through August 31, 2026.
