Start your defense stack with the Necromancer Staff, Gargoyle and Bat, then add Tarantula if losses justify the cost. While planning your Grow a Garden 2 Items, focus on coverage and timing rather than simply filling every pet slot.
What to Aim for First
Halloween brings valuable event pets and Candy Corn into the mix, increasing the pressure on gardens in busy servers. Your goal is to keep thieves away from valuable fruit while building a team that can interrupt them if they get close.
Look for the Necromancer Staff in the Ghoul Garden Gear Shop and hatch Exclusive Halloween Eggs for Gargoyle. Bat and Tarantula are wild pets on the Candy Corn ladder, with listed prices of 1,200,000 and 10,000,000 Candy Corn respectively.
Use the Staff When Rare Pets Appear
The Necromancer Staff claims every wild pet currently on the Ghoul Garden map at once, without charging each individual spawn price. That’s useful when several desirable pets are visible and other players are competing to click them.
Don’t use it on an empty map. Let your party know before a contested claim so another player doesn’t use their Staff on the same empty moment. If a future update reduces its range, check the live behavior and consider manual purchases instead.
How Each Defense Pet Helps
Gargoyle is your first line of contact. Its petrify effect has a 35 to 90 percent rate depending on size, a 20 second cooldown and a six second immunity period for the thief after it activates.
Bat bites at close range, stunning a thief for two to six seconds and taking some of their Candy Corn. Even when Gargoyle doesn’t trigger, that bite can return some value while interrupting the approach.
Tarantula webs for two seconds and can force an item drop. Its web has a 30 second immunity period afterward, and the forced drop has a longer cooldown. Prioritize it sooner if rare seeds or other event items are at risk.
Getting and Spending Candy Corn
Once your defense pets are covered, a Skeleton Horse on a secondary profile can provide Candy Corn income. Switch back to your defense setup before logging off. Bat can also take Candy Corn from thieves, though its bite is a defensive bonus rather than a dependable farming plan.
Save for Bat first in most gardens. Tarantula costs much more, so track missing fruit across three nights before committing your 10,000,000 Candy Corn. Keep enough Sheckles for main world gear rather than letting either currency plan crowd out the other.
Set Up Your Garden
Put Gargoyle where common approaches to valuable fruit pass through its coverage. Ask a trusted friend to try a controlled steal, then watch how quickly Gargoyle reacts. If it never sees them, move props or reposition the pet before spending more.
Add Bat and test whether its bite lands during the petrify immunity gap. Then test Tarantula against the items you care about. After a wave, check cooldowns: three pets won’t protect you reliably if their abilities are all unavailable at once.
In a quiet server, Gargoyle and Bat may be enough while you save for seeds. Busy public servers can warrant the full stack. A private server, when available, is another way to seek a quieter growing session.
Avoid Wasting Pet Slots
Centipede can add walk speed and bite pressure if you already own the Secret spawn. Mummy copies economy rather than defending directly, while Vampire Fox is suited to nighttime offense. Black Cat can work against mutation goals, so it isn’t a defense first choice.
Size and pet variant matter. A Mega Gargoyle can take priority over two Normal defense pets, while Rainbow pets can also change your choices. Check current tooltips, egg odds and shop prices before spending, since live values may change.
Before You Leave
Equip your defenders before a long idle session or logging off, and keep them equipped after Halloween until pressure has clearly eased. If you choose to buy Grow a Garden 2 Items through U4GM, still check your in-game setup first: placement and available cooldowns determine whether those pets can protect your garden.
