Exciting opportunity — join the IPCC AR7 author teams as a Chapter Scientist!
The Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC), via the International Center for Theoretical Physics (ICTP) & the InterAcademy Partnership, is recruiting motivated early‑career researchers from developing countries and economies in transition to support AR7 chapters, which are the chapters preparing the Seventh Assessment Report (AR7). This is a rare chance to contribute directly to the world’s leading climate assessment, gain unique authoring experience, and build international networks.
What you’ll get:
– 48‑month role starting Nov 2025 with a stipend, equipment/IT support, and travel funding for Lead Author Meetings
– Hands‑on work with chapter lead authors, literature synthesis, figure/table development, data management, and review coordination
– Acknowledgement in the IPCC report and valuable experience for your academic/policy career
Who should apply:
– Citizens of developing countries or economies in transition with an advanced degree in climate‑related fields
– Strong English (scientific writing/reading); Python/R, GIS, data skills, publications or policy engagement are advantages
– Women, LDC and SIDS applicants are especially encouraged
