AI for Climate - Investigating Investment and Startup Opportunity Pipeline in India

An Impact Research project to develop a comprehensive thesis for Sangam on the emerging AI for Climate opportunity in India, mapping high-impact use cases across energy, agriculture, manufacturing, and adaptation, which was was translated into an actionable investment thesis and startup opportunity pipeline for early-stage climate-tech capital deployment.

Project Outcomes

India faces urgent challenges across energy, agriculture, infrastructure, and resource management, many of which are rooted in complex physical systems. Sangam sought to identify where Artificial Intelligence (AI) could create meaningful value in these systems and uncover investment opportunities to address India’s climate related challenges.

This project involved developing a comprehensive thesis on the emerging AI for Climate opportunity in India, mapping high-impact use cases across energy, agriculture, manufacturing, and adaptation. This was translated into an actionable investment thesis and startup opportunity pipeline for early-stage climate-tech capital deployment.

Produced an investment thesis report which strengthened the organization’s understanding of AI opportunities across use cases in energy infrastructure, soil health for smallholder farmers, and waste management by identifying promising areas for further exploration, key constraints to consider, and factors relevant to future investment and opportunity assessment.

Key technology/tools used: Google Suite, Qualitative & Quantitative Research Skills
