Global Conference on Smart Farming July 1-3

The Global Conference on Smart Farming will take place July 1–3, 2026, as a hybrid event at the headquarters of the Food and Agriculture Organization in Rome and online.

The conference will bring together policymakers, researchers, farmers’ organizations, private sector representatives, development partners, and youth leaders to explore how data, artificial intelligence, digital technologies, and innovation can support more sustainable, efficient, and resilient agrifood systems.

Sessions will examine strategies for scaling smart farming, strengthening digital skills, and promoting entrepreneurship among women and young people. Discussions will also address challenges including climate variability, soil and water degradation, rising input costs, and labor constraints, with a focus on ensuring that innovation benefits small-scale farmers.

Highlights include the launch of the SoilFER CropSuit App, a decision-support tool for agricultural planning, and a new collaboration between the FAO and the University of Sydney focused on digital agriculture, sustainable mechanization, and AI-driven solutions for smallholder farming systems.
