E4C Visualized: The Benefits and Challenges of Desalination Technology

contributor: Rob Goodier

Desalination technologies are increasingly important. Only 2.5 percent of all the water on Earth is freshwater suitable for drinking or irrigation. Proven methods of desalination can increase the freshwater supply, but it is not easy or free. The infographic below outlines the problem, some of its solutions and the technological challenges that remain.
