Project Overview
Project Description
Farm to Feed is a tech-enabled platform sourcing climate-resilient ingredients that boost farmer livelihoods while reducing waste in agricultural supply chains. As it expands into sustainable ingredient creation and develops its export strategy, building a robust, fully traceable supply chain has become a strategic priority. Traceability is essential both for meeting international standards and for demonstrating the environmental and social impact embedded in Farm to Feed’s value chains.
In the months leading up to the fellowship, the Farm to Feed team will complete research on the requirements for a traceable supply chain—including regulatory expectations, data standards, and operational needs. With this foundation in place, the fellow will lead the next phase: designing and building the traceability systems. This includes defining which data needs to be captured at each stage, how it should be structured, how it will be stored, and how it can be used to unlock value for farmers, buyers, and internal teams.
A key aspect of the project will be determining whether new features need to be added to the supplier mobile app, and whether existing operational workflows should be redesigned to support consistent, accurate data capture. The fellow will map processes, evaluate trade-offs, and translate findings into actionable solutions—ranging from process improvements to software feature specifications.
The fellow will collaborate closely with Farm to Feed’s Value Addition and Operations teams to understand on-the-ground realities, and with its Tech team to shape and design digital interventions. By the end of the fellowship, Farm to Feed expects to have a practical, scalable traceability blueprint and an initial set of implemented solutions that will support its sustainable ingredient line and strengthen export readiness.
Impact
The development of a traceable supply chain for Farm to Feed’s sustainable ingredients will have meaningful environmental and social impact across its value chain. By capturing verifiable data from farm to export, it will be able to demonstrate climate-positive practices, reduce post-harvest losses, and incentivize farmers to adopt regenerative techniques through premium markets and transparent sourcing standards.
