When Komal Shah met women at a Bangalore antenatal care center who were living with untreated urinary incontinence, she saw a design problem waiting to be solved. The encounters set her on a path to founding Periwinkle Labs, the startup behind Iniraa, a wearable device for treating the condition. Along the way, two accelerator programs from the American Society of Mechanical Engineers, IDEA LAB and ISHOW, gave her the mentorship and structure to turn a concept into a patented, near-market-ready product.
