The American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME) has announced the three social ventures from the Americas region selected to join the 2025 cohort of its Innovation Showcase (ISHOW), an accelerator program supporting hardware-led solutions to social and environmental challenges.
Seven finalists pitched their innovations during the ISHOW Americas event on July 30. A panel of judges conducted a detailed review of each design’s technical feasibility, usability, and potential for impact. Three ventures were selected to receive seed grants, design services, and engineering guidance as they prepare to scale their products.
The selected ventures include:
BiliRoo (Portage, Michigan): A non-electric infant jaundice treatment that uses filtered sunlight phototherapy combined with skin-to-skin contact. Designed for use in low-resource settings.
LÆRO (Washington, D.C.): A compact graywater recycling system called Cycleau that retrofits under sinks and showers to treat water to potable standards. Targeted for low-income households and aging buildings.
Vianyumi (Baltimore, Maryland): A soft robotic suit called DINA (Dynamic Infant Neurorehab Aid), designed for shoulder rehabilitation in newborns with brachial plexus palsy.

Prior to the ASME ISHOW Americas event, ASME ISHOW India was held in April, and ASME ISHOW Africa was held in June. Three ventures selected at each event comprise the ISHOW 2025 cohort.
These nine ventures will participate in a customized ISHOW Bootcamp this winter where they will undergo an extensive design and engineering review by experts curated to guide them as they scale to market. They also join the global ISHOW alumni network, which includes over 250 startups from more than 35 countries working to address critical quality-of-life challenges.
The ISHOW program is supported by global partners, including The Lemelson Foundation. The initiative is part of ASME’s broader effort to strengthen the hardware innovation ecosystem for underserved communities. Learn more about ISHOW’s global impact in this dynamic dashboard.
