Bintix is advancing the digital transformation of the waste management sector by developing a robust digital platform equipped with mobile and web applications. Its platform empowers waste management companies to trace, track, and manage their operations with unprecedented transparency and efficiency, leveraging technology built for our own waste collection and management workflows. Rigorous field-testing has validated the product’s reliability and effectiveness. As Bintix prepares to scale to a broader market, a critical challenge remains: optimizing the user interface and user experience (UI/UX) to make the platform more accessible, intuitive, and impactful. Bintix seeks a passionate UI/UX fellow to help elevate its product’s design, ensuring it appeals to a diverse user base and accelerates digital adoption within an industry that is still largely analog. This project will be instrumental in shaping an inclusive, user-centered solution capable of driving sector-wide innovation and lasting change.
Impact
Digitizing waste management operations empowers businesses handling substantial volumes of wet and dry waste to manage and scale their activities more efficiently every day. The platform’s intuitive design also enables companies to be inclusive of waste pickers and low-literacy personnel, extending digital access to those at the margins of the sector. By formalizing operations, the solution enhances traceability and transparency, driving greater environmental/social impact and facilitating better value creation throughout the value chain, therefore empowering an age-old sector.
Eligibility Criteria
Skills / Experience:
- Required:
- UI/UX
- Human-centred design
- Front-end programming
- Graphic design
- Self-motivated with the ability to work independently and collaborate with the team.
- Desired:
- Understanding of technical feasibility, accessibility, and inclusivity considerations in resource-constrained environments
- Knowledge of or willingness to research existing tools that can be incorporated into the solution
Discipline:
- Graphic design, computer science or other related degree
Preferred Fellow Local Experience (all projects can be completed remotely):
- Local experience in India may be beneficial
Preferred Timezone (when the Fellow should be available for meetings):
