Smart wireless router that automatically creates and interconnects community WiFi hotspots that pre-downloads relevant online content once
Hitch is a smart wireless router that automatically creates and interconnects community WiFi hotspots that pre-downloads (cach) relevant online content once, so many users can access the same information quickly without an Internet connection. In this way, it creates a content delivery network and broadband services in underserved areas. It forms WiFi Data Hubs through various Hitch routers enabling users to access Internet content, without needing individual ISP connections.
The routers have integrated capacity to connect to solar energy panels and batteries for energy autonomy.

Distributors / Implementing Organizations
This product will perform pilots during 2017.
Manufacturing/Building Method
Hitch is a hardware product (a WiFi router with storage, processing, and solar/battery capacity) and software service with embedded proprietary algorithms running on each router that connects to other Hitch routers to form local decentralized cloud platforms for storing, sharing, and updating Internet content, services and applications.
Intellectural Property Type

Distributions to Date Status
This product will perform pilots during 2017.
Type of service
Broadband Wi-Fi access router with local cached content.
Telecommunication service required
Hitch routers can work in stand-alone mode and network can work off the grid with pre-loaded content if no Internet service is available in the implementation site. It is possible to connect Wi-Fi routers to Internet through mobile Internet network. Mesh architectures can be built with few routers connected to Internet and the rest providing cached content and eventually Internet content too.
Fixed network connection required (Y/N)
No, it is not required.
Additional device required
End users need their own device to connect to Hitch router through Wi-Fi.
Two way communication (Y/N)
Yes.
Battery life (hours)
N/A. The router just has a dock/input for power supply which includes solar panel and battery input. Battery life would depend then on power source selected by end-user.
Network capacity
Unknown.
Power requirements
This is an access point that serves multiple users simultaneously and thus needs permanente power supply.
Average packet loss
Unknown.
Application
Education.
Design Specifications
This product was started with a market validation of the idea followed by scaling through Internet-of-Things innovation to reach a final hardware device and platform configuration. Hardware testing and quality assurance and control was then performed to finalize the product.
